As part of our ongoing efforts to build links with schools and organisations in and around South Manchester and Cheshire, Director, Nick Birch was invited to run a Branding workshop with Year 13 students at Knutsford Academy.
A former student of the sixth form there, it was an opportunity for Nick to revisit – some 21 years on!
The class was made up of 12 x BTEC Business Studies students, all of whom have covered Marketing as part of their curriculum. This was a great opportunity to provide an insight into how theoretical study is applied in the working world and give the students a slightly different perspective.
As part of the session, the students were asked to work in sub-groups and give thought to some real life business scenarios. They then came up with ways to develop an engaging approach to the marketing of that business, focussing on why the business exists as opposed to what it delivers and how it delivers it. The students then proposed the key media channels that might be used, considering websites, mobile apps, social media and printed literature.
There was a great deal of enthusiasm from the students and the ideas that came out of the session were really creative.
James Routs, Head of Marketing and Business Partnerships at the school
‘Many thanks to Nick, running these workshops provides our students with invaluable knowledge that not only enhances their current studies but also helps to prepare them for the working world, we had some great feedback from the students who found the session very enjoyable and highly thought provoking.’
