Cottonopolis is a bar and restaurant based within a listed building on Newton Street in the Northern Quarter, Manchester. The building itself is steeped in history, as an old tailors workshop. Cottonopolis pays homage to this with it’s feature raw and industrial feeling aesthetics. We wanted to design a website that encapsulates all of this.
Cottonopolis Website Design
We designed a website with the restaurant’s industrial heritage in mind. It features predominantly copper and angular shapes. The iconic Manchester worker bee is seen as a focal point for Cottonopolis and this has been translated to the website’s home page. The bee’s separate parts move when your cursor hovers over the menu bar.
Minimal text and a simplistic colour scheme showcases the striking photography, which means the images are able to do all the talking. Social links are fixed on each page, as is the reservations button, allowing for easy user navigation.
