Happy New Year from us at The Agency Creative! Unfortunately, we have carried some of the worst of 2020 into 2021 with us, by entering lockdown 3.0. However, with any luck, this year will surprise us all for the better. So, what can we do to get through the ongoing pandemic? Whilst our expertise lies in marketing, branding, and design, we’ve collated a few resources that might be of some interest.
Entertainment
Let’s start with entertainment. One of the most dreadful thoughts for many is the idea of being stuck inside with nothing to do. You might think you have run out of ideas during 2020 however there’s always something else.
Streaming services such as Netflix, Disney Plus, Amazon, and many more have plenty of movies and programs ready to watch if you can afford it! Another great way to keep entertained is by playing games with the family or even by yourself. You can do this by re-using old consoles, board games, or make homemade quizzes. There’s no substitution for some family interaction that doesn’t involve a screen!
There are many ways to keep yourself entertained at home. View our previous blog ‘Coronavirus | Top 10 Tips For Self Isolation‘ for in-depth information on the following subjects. Exercise, Clear Out, Stay Connected, Organise Your Days, Listen To Music & Podcasts, Learn Something New, Read, Be Creative & DIY, Watch TV & Play Games, Relax.
Finance
Benefits – If someone in your household loses their job or they need extra help, then they can seek help from the benefits systems available. See Turn 2 Us benefit calculator for information on entitlement and guides on how to proceed.
Grants – Businesses, freelancers, and unemployed individuals may also be entitled to some available grants. Please use the following links accordingly. Self Employed Support Business Support
Banking – During 2020 a series of payment holidays were issued for loans and mortgages. If you haven’t yet made use of the scheme or its extension then you have until 31 March to request a payment deferral. However, this may result in you paying more interest in the long term.
Save – We understand that this is easier said than done. However, if you organise your finances then you may ease your worries. Try to make use of tax-free options, like ISAs so your savings are strengthened in the future.
Mental Health
The most important thing is your Mental Health. It is something that we should all prioritise and we should be encouraging others to speak out about it. Daily exercise is the starting point – healthy body, healthy mind. Leaving the house and going for a walk has taken on a new excitement. It’s amazing how many people you’ll now have a socially distanced chat with now we’re all in the same boat. Has coronavirus actually helped us come together as communities? We think so.
Please see below a list of important and helpful resources.
Samaritans – You can find 24/7 support from the Samaritans helpline at 116 123. This is a free and confidential service.
Mind – Click here for their website! Mind offers a variety of guidance and supportive resources through its website.
NHS talking therapies – Talking therapies, or psychological therapies, are effective and confidential treatments delivered by fully trained and accredited NHS practitioners.
Speak – Another option is to talk to anybody. Friend, family member, stranger? It’s okay, support is everywhere.
Rehab 4 Addiction – Offers a wealth of resources and information about addiction and mental health, which could be invaluable to those in need, Rehab 4 Addiction provides a helpline that offers immediate assistance to those struggling with addiction, a service that could be life-saving for some of your readers. They offer a comprehensive directory of treatment centres throughout the UK, making it easier for those in need to find help near them.
