At The Agency Creative, we specialise in developing brand styles for a diverse range of clients, so that their unique value proposition and personality are well reflected and resonates with the viewer. A key element of the branding process is a company or brand logo, this is a foundation of your brand and a focal point of any brand’s visual identity. Whether we’re rebranding an existing business or creating a visual style for a new brand, we align the creative process with a clear brand strategy.
Here, we have looked at our top 5 logo design styles using examples that have helped form the foundations of a strong brand identity.
1. Hand-Drawn Style
Adding personality to your brand is always a great idea. Applying a hand-drawn or written style to a logo can create an authentic and unique appearance. The hand-drawn treatment can vary in style, including, handwritten fonts, drawings, sketches, and imperfect lines.
Pro body Glow’s logo is an example of this design trend. It’s a celebrity-endorsed cosmetic product that uses a signature by celebrity make-up artist Armand Beasley. This projects personalised, artisan, and natural brand characteristics.
2. Letter Symbolisation
Using a key brand image in replacement of a letter is a great way to convey a key feature of the brand identity. In this example for ‘Indian Tiffin Room‘ an emblem of a traditional Indian tiffin carrier was created and used to reinforce the authentic nature of the brand through its use in the logo. This is one of our favourite trends in logo design, as it allows the logo to visually communicate more than the brand name in a striking and intriguing way.
This emblem is reinforced throughout their branding and has allowed us to create an accompanying ‘ITR’ logo, which is widely used on brand materials such as menus, window graphics, and digital marketing.
3. Textures
In a world where the trend has been to become sleek and simple, it’s nice to stand out with a style that offers some differentiation. Adding a little texture to your brand’s logo is a great way to do this. Depending on your company’s identity and values, this can be an effective application for your branding.
Our Client, Tales & Tender required a logo that emphasises both their fun and professional side. We chose to create a simple and clean logo but enhanced it with a grunge effect for a perfectly balanced brand style.
4. Negative Space
We believe that this design style is one of the best ways to get creative with your branding. It’s easy to forget about the negative space when creating a logo, however, it can be an important and effective element. There are many ways to be inventive with this design trend, such as: playing with optical illusions and double meanings by carefully combining letters and symbols, or by incorporating hidden shapes and objects within your logo.
We created Housecroft Scaffolding’s logo with the idea of negative space in mind. If you look carefully you will find an ‘H’ & ‘S’ within the emblem.
5. Minimalism
This is another popular logo design trend. Simplicity is key within most branding projects, it’s a perfect way to keep a brand looking professional and memorable. Minimalist logos offer a significant advantage compared to other design styles. Simple logos can be flexible and incredibly versatile, especially when printed on product packaging or when enhanced through digital marketing.
We designed a minimalistic logo for our client Blocsphere including a simple icon to reinforce their branding.
