Tucked away in the beautiful Dee Valley, The Plassey Holiday Park is an established feature of the North Wales tourism offering. Our brief was to give their branding a refresh and to develop their new website, complete with copy, three information videos and bespoke photography.
The Plassey is home to a Touring Caravan Park, Luxury Caravans, Retail Village, Swimming Pool, Golf Course and Retail Village which features an A la carte restaurant, hair and Beauty Salon and a number of boutique outlets. Our challenge was to develop a responsive website which effectively communicates each distinct offering for both day visitors and long stay tourists.
The Leisure park offers something for both families looking for fun packed activities and those looking for peace and tranquillity.
When addressing the website layout and design, we able to use the imagery to create a fresh, distinctive and appealing style. The copy has been written to be consistent, engaging and informative. A key feature for visitors to the website are the information videos that provide an overview of The Park, The Golf Course and The Retail Village. With voice overs by professionals who have worked on M&S adverts among others, the videos certainly provide an added dimension to the website. The site itself is designed with a positive user experience (UX) in mind and optimal visibility on computers, tablets and mobile devices.
The Main logo features the house sketch, which is the centralfeature of the Park, so much so that Plassey is an anglicized translation of the Welsh for house. Simple enough to have impact, the logo is adaptable enough to feature subheadings such as ‘Golf Course’ or ‘Retail Village ‘for use as branded signage throughout The Park.
The video shoot involved lots of conventional shots but we also made uses of a drone helicopter to capture some stunning aerial footage, which truly captures the scale and beauty of the Plassey site. Mounted with an HD Go-Pro video camera, this kit proved especially useful to show off the golf course features with sweeping fairway ‘fly down’ shots.
2016 saw us install a range of new signage in-line with the updated branding. The existing golf clubhouse was renamed ‘The ‘Haybank Clubhouse’ and a striking backlit aluminium sign was installed directly onto the clubhouse building.
The main directional sign is a full colour printed aluminium tray sign with oak pillars at either end. This provides an upmarket and striking addition to the park and is sympathetic to the natural surroundings and high quality characteristics seen elsewhere in the park.
We’ve been managing the Search Engine Optimisation for Plassey since January 2016 and during that time, Plassey has seen massive improvements in Google rankings for search terms such as North Wales Holiday Parks and Caravanning North Wales. Increased rankings have equated to high website visitor numbers and better quality enquiries via the website.
Monthly e-shots are sent to their database of over 10,000. These feature the brand graphics and stories that are generated as part of our blogging and on-site optimisation process. On one such E-Shot detailing plans to create Glamping Pods at The Plassey, we invited recipients to sign-up an expression of interest form on a dedicated landing page. This attracted 266 sign-up’s representing a 2.5% sign-up rate.
