We were delighted to work with Projekts MCR skatepark during March.
Tucked away under the Mancunian Way flyover, Projekts MCR is a purpose built urban skatepark, which over the past 10 years has gone from strength to strength. We got to know head honcho – John Haines through the Goldman Sachs 10k programme and it was a pleasure to spend some time down there.
Under the able stewardship of John, the park aims to make Manchester a better place for skaters, BMX and scooter riders, mixing up the both experienced skaters / riders and first-time folk. So what did we do to help? Well, the park has awesome facilities combining ramps, an urban café and friendly atmosphere however not as many people know about it as they should.
The Mancunian way and adjacent roads get huge volumes of passing traffic, so we designed graphics to capture the attention of pedestrians and motorists and communicate the wide range of facilities and services on offer. Our fitter Steve braved the elements to install the ‘alubond’ signage around the site fencing. Contrary to popular belief, skating is open to everyone and the park actively promotes diverse sessions ranging from kids parties to corporate teambuilding days. If you’ve been you’ll know what a great place this and what great work it does in keeping local kids (and adults) occupied.
If you’ve not been, drop in and take a look – You’ll struggle to find a more friendly and welcoming place. www.projektsmcr.com
