London Stansted Airport

MAG owned London Stansted Airport is undergoing a major £1.1 billion investment over five years to expand and modernise its single terminal. The programme includes a £600 million extension that will add three new bays, creating a more spacious departure lounge filled with new shops, bars, restaurants, and extra seating. The immigration hall, check-in areas, and baggage reclaim will all be enhanced, and security is being upgraded with next-generation scanners to streamline passenger flow. Energy sustainability is also a key part of the plan: a 14.3 MW on-site solar farm will support the airport’s power needs, and new electric vehicle charging infrastructure is being added.

Planning permission has already been granted, with construction expected to start in 2025. Once complete, the upgrades will boost Stansted’s capacity and enable it to serve up to 43 million passengers annually, while creating around 5,000 new jobs and doubling the airport’s economic contribution to the UK.
